About Professional Jeweler

A reference on gemstones, diamonds, precious metals and bench technique.

ProfessionalJeweler.com explains the practical side of fine jewelry: how stones are identified and treated, how metals behave, how settings are cut and finished, and how the trade itself works. It is written for jewelry students, bench jewelers, retail staff and buyers who want more than a sales page.

How we write

Articles are researched and written by our editorial team from published sources: gemological laboratories, trade bodies, technical papers, regulators and established bench references. Each article lists its main sources under "Further reading" so you can check them.

We describe techniques; we don't claim hands-on testing we haven't done. Where a subject involves safety (torches, casting, chemicals or kilns), follow your workshop's procedures and the equipment maker's instructions.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email editorial@professionaljeweler.com with the page and the source that shows the correct information. We update articles when we get things wrong.

A note on the name

This site is not affiliated with the former Professional Jeweler trade magazine, and none of its articles are reproduced here.
