Tiffany Launches Chinese Web Site

Tiffany & Co. has launched a Web site for the Chinese market at, supporting its two Chinese retail locations in Beijing and Shanghai with information about the company and its products.

The site provides details on Tiffany's diamonds, fine jewelry, timepieces, gifts and accessories. Other sections discuss Tiffany's history and company background and instructions on caring for jewelry, and provide access to customer service and store locations.

This is Tiffany's fifth Web site; the company also has sites for its U.S., U.K., Japanese and Canadian markets.

Another main purpose of the site is to educate Chinese consumers on how to look for authentic Tiffany & Co. merchandise — available in China only at the company's two stores — and to steer clear of buying Tiffany goods through unauthorized channels. China and Hong Kong are known as sources for many of the counterfeit goods branded as Tiffany and other luxury brands that have made their way into online auctions and other distribution channels.
