The fickle Oscar-goers don't usually choose their jewels more than a couple of days before they waltz down the red carpet for the world to see. ABC's Oscars site, though, predicts what jewelry and clothing styles will pique viewers' interests as they devour the details of the Academy Awards on March 23.
Oscar fashion coordinator Fred Hayman presented 27 creations on Monday, March 9, at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, based on styles seen on the runways in New York, Paris, Milan and London. The fashion preview is a good indication of what America's royalty will wear on the big night in two weeks. Among the exhibited fashions: the lacy, feminine look of the 1920s, inspired by "Titanic" and "Wings of a Dove;" platinum colors in clothing; the end of minimalism and the return of ornate decoration; rich auburns, browns and coppers in Oscar night hair and lip color; jeweled evening bags; and ruby reds in dress designs. The site will offer more updates on impending Oscar night trendsetting as the date approaches.
